If you have made it to week 4, congratulations! You are on the home stretch to having all your photos and videos archived to pass on when you’re ready. You will now have systems in place to do this for years to come! If you’re just now jumping into our four week challenge you can start here at week one.
This week is all about home videos and a few extra fun things! I feel very lucky that my parents captured so much of my childhood on video for me to keep. I have a pile of VHS tapes with video footage that I absolutely love to watch! However…VHS players will be non-existant very soon if they’re not already. Tapes can expire, rip, and be destroyed easily. I wanted to make sure I have these videos backed up in case something were to happen. Here we go!
MEMORY ORGANIZATION CHALLENGE – WEEK 4
Monday: Order Your Supplies
Here’s what you’ll need for VHS or DVD digitizing:
- VHS Player
- Transfer Device. I used VidBox video conversion suite
- USB Drives or Back Up Drive to store videos
Here’s wait you’ll need for school project organization:
Here is the baby book I love if you want to order one. I love these because there’s a specific one for adoption:
Tuesday: Gather and Organize your VHS Tapes and DVDs
If you have these collecting dust around your house (or in your parents attic) go grab them and get them organized by year so you’ll be ready to go!
Wednesday: Digitize VHS Tapes or DVDs
Follow instructions on Vidbox to get them transferred to your computer and/or USB drive. This can be time consuming but not hard! You have to actually play the video to get it copied, so you can start the videos and leave it to transfer. I will do an instagram story on this day to show you this process.
Thursday: Baby Books + School Projects
Do you have a baby book that you’ve been putting off? If so, it’s time to get caught up! My kids are almost two years old and I have yet to fill out their baby book. There’s no better time than quarantine! I love promptly journals because there is a specific book geared toward adoption.
Time to also get those school projects organized! I organize school projects in a large binder for each child. (Supplies are listed above!) Check out my instagram stories today for a peak at our binders.
Did you know studies show that children with their photos on the walls have higher self esteem? Putting your photos up in your house make it feel like home! Today I challenge you to get some prints ordered to hang on your wall! I’ll share a few of my favorite frames today in my instagram stories.
